Best Photo Locations in BudapestTop Instagram Spots in Buda and Pest by Lucas Aresin You have probably landed on this page because you are on the hunt for some of the best instagrammable spots in Budapest. For truly amazing views, scroll down - or come on tour with us! Fisherman's Bastion For a really pretty sight of the Danube promenade, head over to the Fisherman's Bastion in the castle district. Tip: The beautiful stone arches make a great foreground, while Budapest and the Danube rest in the background. From here, you can take great pictures of the Parliament building, the Danube itself with its many bridges and busy boat traffic, St. Stephen's Basilica, and basically all of Pest's skyline. And once you're there, explore the castle district of Budapest. Danube Promenade You don't have to climb sky-high to get an amazing panorama. Luckily for your knees, Pest side is quite flat, and even flatter is the Danube itself. A walk down the Danube promenade, especially the part between the Chain Bridge and the Elisabeth Bridge, is just perfect for a stunning panoramic shot. By day or by night, this route should make for some eye-opening pictures. The warm lights of the street lamps and the bridge will reflect on the river's surface, and on the other side of the water, you'll marvel at Buda Castle and the Hungarian Parliament towering above the river bank. Gellért Hill Gellért Hill is home to the Citadel and offers an amazing view of the Danube stretching down from the north towards you. From here, you can see the hills in the distance, as well as both sides of the Danube river banks. On your right, Pest with all its landmarks lies in front of you. On your left, the Buda hills boast Buda castle and more. If you're on your way to the Citadel anyway, make sure to stop by for a short picture session. Elizabeth Lookout Tower Maybe you're super-serious about this. Do you want to min-max your panoramic effort? Well, head over to Elizabeth lookout tower, which is officially the highest point of Budapest with 527 meters in height. Yes, this point is a bit further out, and you won't take any close-ups of famous buildings, but this place allows you to capture the lay of the land around Budapest perfectly. There will be a lot of forests, and in the distance, you can see Budapest breaking apart the green, like a glacier in the distance. St. Stephen's Basilica If you're in the center of Budapest, this might be the place for you. St. Stephen's Basilica is a towering presence in the skyline of the city and if you ascend the many stairs to the top of one of the two bell towers you can take a picture for the ages. Don't worry, there is also an elevator for the weak-kneed among us. Each direction will give you a great view of one part of Budapest. There's Parliament in the north, Buda hills to the west, the Citadella to the south. Alternatively, take a picture of the ant-like traffic below. You can't go wrong here – just point and shoot. |
